With Bated Breath: October New Releases
10October 1, 2012 by Heidi
It’s well and truly Fall! Hurray! Finally, I can wear long sleeves and scarves again. It’s also the last big book-release month of the year, which means we have a lot of goodness to share today. Not many trailers this month, but the Fairyland one is excellent, of course.
Also, can we acknowledge that John freaking Barrowman wrote a Middle Grade book with his sister?! That’s Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who/Torchwood renown. So excited.
Let me know what October new releases you’re most excited for–especially if it’s something I don’t have on my own list!

Ooo there are lots of interesting looking books coming out in October- I hadn’t heard of ‘Jepp who defied the stars’ before but I love the title and cover!
Jepp sounds like such a cool story! I got a copy signed at BEA because it sounded like just my type of book. Hopefully I get to reading it soon!
There are so many fantastic books coming out this month, how will I ever find the time to read them all??!
I know, right? September was crazy enough and I actually did manage a good chunk of them!
I’m actually not as excited about this month as I was about the previous month for some reason. It’s not that I don’t want to read a lot of the books – because I do – but there’s just something about a month where both SRB and Libba Bray release their books that is just SO special. I can’t wait to get my hands on Stealing Parker, Amber House, Magisterium, Iced (a spin-off novel on the UF Fever Series), Gravity (I’ve been told this is coming in the mail for me…), Lucid and Valkyrie Rising. I wasn’t a big fan of Ironskin (if you LOVE Jane Eyre, I doubt you’ll enjoy this one), Crewel, Breathe, Beta, Eve and Adam, Mystic City or Dark Star, but Ashen Winter, What Happens Next, and The Assassin’s Curse were amazing. We definitely have a fabulous month ahead of us!(:
Yeah, I’m not as excited about October as I was for September either. I think there are just as many books, but there were more I was really excited about in September. Yeah, my interest in Ironskin has waned quite a bit since reviews started rolling out, I was glad I didn’t request it on NG. I liked Crewel a lot more than you did, but I do have to read Eve & Adam and Dark Star and am kind of dreading it after reviews. Can’t wait for The Assassin’s Curse though!
I can’t wait until I can wear scarves and my boots again! Lucky New Yorkers, I’ll be lucky if I get a chance by November!
I am looking forward to so many of these books! Jepp, Who Defied the Stars is near the top of the list as well as the sequel to Blood Red Road, Rebel Heart (Oct. 30 is the release if I’m not mistaken.) And I read What Happen’s Next a couple of weeks ago and REALLY enjoyed it:)
Hehe, yeah, I may not love New York, but one thing I am a fan of is the autumn. I forgot about Rebel Heart! Largely because I have yet to read Blood Red Road, but I should have remembered anyway, it’s a series I know I’ll enjoy.
I shall celebrate the coming of Fall with you! Love me some scarves and longsleeves. This year I just have to figure out how to incorporate my newfound love for skirts and dresses without freezing…
I haven’t read The Eleventh Plague yet, but I’m still stoked to read Magisterium, it looks really good :]
Keeper of the Lost Cities and The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland? Don’t even get me started on my excitement for those two! I really like the simplicity if the Fairyland trailer. Plus, the music is awesome.
Oooh. The Eve & Adam trailer is awesome as well! I’m starting to feel the need to abuse both my debit and library cards…
There’s plenty more books on this list I’m super excited for, but my thumbs are tiring (the problem with doing everything on a tablet…) :p
I must say that these monthly posts of yours are starting to get dangerous for me, though 😛
I too have a newfound love of skirts and dresses! I’ve already bought some tights. 😛
Sorry to add to your book issues! I don’t do much better for myself…:P
