With Bated Breath: October New Releases
6October 2, 2013 by Heidi
So I completely fell off the face of the internet for September, which is a crying shame because did everyone see how many amazing new releases there were last month?! September always seems, to me, to be the biggest release month of the year. What a bad time to contract an intense writer-reader block combo! Though let’s be honest, if you’re only going to make it through two books in one month you could do a lot worse than Robin McKinley and Cat Valente (full marks to both!).
I now know fall is setting in because I’m absolutely craving something dark and creepy. It’s the time of year for Gaiman and Sedgwick, and suddenly nothing but that ARC of Engines of the Broken World will do. Let me know what you’ve been reading or craving lately–I’ve missed you all!

I think the only book I’m excited for this month is The Midnight Dress. I’m a little intimidated, only because there are three books on here that I have ARCs for (that I haven’t read yet!). I feel so behind on my review copies, sadly, so I’ll still have my reading cut out for me this month. Also, I’d love to read Parasite, but seeing as I haven’t finished October Daye OR the Feed trilogy, I probably shouldn’t be starting yet another Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire series! 😉 Have a wonderful October, Heidi!
So many good releases this month! Really wanting the new Valente but I’m impatiently awaiting Audible to release its version. Super anxious for The Killing Woods too. Parasite finally comes out! I feel like I read that ages ago… really looking forward to discussing that one though.
Welcome back! I am really excited about October releases, mainly Scott Lynch’s The Republic of Thieves, Horde and Fractured! It’s going to be a great (reading) month
Glad to see A Taste of Blood Wine on your list.
I love Freda Warrington’s writing, and that’s my favorite of her books I’ve read.
I did not like Engines of the Broken World at all. I hope you have better luck with it though. That said, there are some great books coming out this month! I think I am looking forward to The Killing Woods most!
Really curious about Ancillary Justice. And the last Fairyland book now that I have a copy of the second one (thanks again!)
I’m also interested in Across a Star-swept Sea but I haven’t read The Scarlet Pimpernel. Sorrow’s Knot also looks good!
