With Bated Breath: July

It’s July! Time for those summer blockbusters, by which of course I mean awesome releases like the latest Kate Daniels!!  Not only that, Melissa Marr is releasing her second adult novel–and since Graveminder is my favorite book of hers to date, I’m extremely excited.  Plus, volume 2 of Fairest, my favorite Fables spin-off is finally here.

There’s a bit of a dearth of trailers this month, but I did enjoy the one for The Theory of Everything.  As always, let me know what you’re waiting on this month, and happy summer reading to one and all!

  1. Sarah says:

Ooh, there are a bunch of July books I’m excited about. I’m currently reading Viral Nation and LOVING IT–it’s so different and fresh. And I’ve already read Dirty Little Secret and really liked it as well (with the exception of her paranormal novel, Jennifer Echols just works for me).

I’m intrigued by Melissa Marr’s new novel (it sounds odd in a good way), Of Beauty and the Beast and Starglass and am planning on cracking open Carniepunk soon (I love short stories and this is such a good way to check out authors I’ve been meaning to read).

    • Heidi says:

Oooh, good to hear you’re loving Viral Nation! That’s one of those i was interested in, but waiting to hear feedback before I picked it up. I STILL haven’t read any Jennifer Echols, but would like to give her a try. I love anothologies for test driving authors! Big fan of shorts for that sort of thing, and I really liked Melissa Marr’s last adult book (which was odd in a good way), so I have high hopes.

  2. I am sooooooo excited about THE NIGHT ITSELF. SO EXCITED. And I WOULD be “so excited” about the Juliet Marillier, but since it’s a trilogy, I’m not reading the series until next year. Erk! I’m doing the blog tour for MIST…and I think I picked up LEFT DROWNING and INDELIBLE at BEA? I enjoyed OF BEAST AND BEAUTY and reviewed it for FTF, but I’ll be featuring it again this month. Love my fairy tales!!

Today I bought AWAKEN by Meg Cabot and THE TWICE LOST by Sarah Porter, which both officially come out tomorrow. Yay for final books in trilogies!

Are you importing THE NIGHT ITSELF? I want to so badly because I adore it, but I’m sort of thinking about being a cover snob right now and seeing what the US covers will be…I just want an epic cover for this epic series. Love her though!!

    • Heidi says:

Yes, Bonnie, I totally wait on trilogies as often as possible, so I understand your bit on Shadowfell. I really enjoyed Stacey Jay’s Juliet Immortal/Romeo Redeemed, so I’m pumped to see her take on Beauty and the Beast. I have the first book in Meg Cabot’s series, but was waiting for it to finish before I gave it a go!

I don’t think I’ll import The Night Itself, I’ll probably hold out and wait. I’m excited but have so many other things to read in the meantime.

  3. In my excitement for Kate I totally forgot about Of Beast and Beauty, A Darkness Strange and Lovely, and Raven Flight! Ahh, so many great books are due this month and now I can’t wait! AND CURRAN! *dies*

    • Heidi says:

I know!! I’m so freaking excited. I still need to preorder, but I’m planning to have that book in my hands asap.

  4. Nafiza says:

Some very amazing books out this month. I appreciate this post quite a bit!

  5. I didn’t know that the new Fairest was coming out!! YAYAYYYYYY *pre-orders* I am heading to NY today and I am not sure how the library there is…especially in terms of YA books. EEP! Also so excited about The Arrivals, I may just order that outright as well..

    • Heidi says:

YES! New Fairest! Yay!!! I’m so glad you made it to NY safe, and I hope that the library is good. At least we know you have a B&N nearby, and you’ll totes have access to that amazeballs warehouse sale April always goes to. So excited about The Arrivals as well.
