The Prodigal Blogger Returns

3

March 19, 2014 by Heidi

Hi Guys!  So…It would appear that I disappeared on you for a number of months.  Turns out that having multiple jobs (now counting 3) and planning a wedding kind of sucks the energy out of a girl.  I’ve still been reading, but finding time to sit down and blog has been nigh impossible (okay, finding energy has been nigh impossible…I have been quite enjoying more TV/Netflix/the Sid Meyers Humble Bundle my fiance bought me for Valentine’s Day).  Let me just say, I have garnered a HUGE amount of respect for those of you out there who have jobs/kids/school/blogs and somehow don’t neglect any of them, because man that takes hard work.

I thought about packing it in altogether and just sticking to YAcking, but let’s face it, I can’t quit you.

The prodigal blogger returns.  A little anyway.  Honestly, the next 5 months of my life are still going to be crazy, but I will be wading back into posting by putting up a post every week or so. Additionally, I’m going to be joining the crew over at Tor.com!  You know, pretty much the best SciFi/Fantasy site around (okay, they don’t have Cage Match, but that’s about it).  This means that you’ll now be able to find me chillin’ with Stubby the Rocket, chatting up some YA Spec Fic goodness (or terribleness).

Armchair Audies

Also, after once again failing to complete my few challenges last year, there was one item I was able to tick off, and plan to again.  That is the participation as a judge in the Armchair Audies.  Like last year, I will again be judging the Middle Grade category, which should be fantastic (though a very tough choice) considering it includes in its nominees two of my favorite narrators (Katherine Kellgren for Caroline Carlson’s Magic Marks the Spot and Bahni Turpin reading Jewel Parker Rhodes’ Sugar)  and one of my favorite books (Kate Winslet reading Roald Dahl’s Matilda).  Do The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp by Kathi Appelt or A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park stand a chance?  Only time will tell.

Finally, to note some awesomeness, I just want to point out that Sync titles have been announced for this summer and there are some fantastic ones (yes, it is likely that Anne of Green Gables will be on a semi-permanent loop through my ears along with my Harry Potter audiobooks).  Check them out!

And lastly, Humble Bundle is offering its 3rd round of e-books!  The line-up consists of the usual suspects (Holly Black, Wil Wheaton, Cory Doctorow), but does that make it any less exciting?  Absolutely not!  Maybe I’ll finally get around to reading Uglies now…you know, since I’ve owned Pretties for about two years now.

Hoping I’ll be seeing you all back here soon, but in the meantime happy reading!

  1. Yay Heidi I’m so glad you’re back! I’ve missed reading your posts and look forward to reading them again, however frequent or infrequent they are. I totally get how busy life can be (though yours sounds extra busy right now). And, wow, that’s awesome about Tor. Congrats! I enjoy Tor’s blog and now I’ll definitely make sure to read it on a more regular basis. :)
