I haven’t done back to back Book Haul posts in months, but this was a great book week, so I’m left with no choice but to share the awesomeness!

First up, after enjoying Unspoken so much, I made good on my word to get my hands on more of Sarah Rees Brennan’s work right away and picked up (from the library):

The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan [Amazon|Goodreads]
Team Human by Sarah Rees Brennan and Justine Larbalestier [Amazon|Goodreads]

And because of my recent enjoyment of On the Edge and Rosemary and Rue (I’ll be posting my review Friday) I also got (from the library):

Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews (The Edge 2) [Amazon|Goodreads]
A Local Habitation by Seanan McGuire (October Daye 2) [Amazon|Goodreads]

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling audio book coverHarry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling audio book coverNice Girls Don't Date Dead Men by Molly Harper audio book cover

I also got 3 more audiobooks through the library and audible…the only Harry Potter audio I’m still waiting on at this point is the 1st!  Then it’s time for my upteenth reread:

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling [Amazon|Goodreads]
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
[Amazon|Goodreads]
Nice Girls Don’t Date Dead Men by Molly Harper
[Amazon|Goodreads]

And then, Victoria Schwab who is completely awesome and sweet sent me a The Archived tote bag she was kind enough to personalize for me, along with book plates and some signed bookmarks.  I was one of three lucky people she gave these away to on Twitter, and I was so happy to win–I can’t wait for this book!  Really bummed I agreed to work the weekend of New York Comic Con–I’ll be missing out on all sorts of awesomeness, including ARCs of The Archived.

Aside from the two reviews I’ve already mentioned spurring me to immediately read more, I also talked this week about The Sweetest Spell by Suzanne Selfors.  This week had some reading disappointments (Monstrous Beauty, Carnival of Souls) and some pleasant surprises (Skin Hunger) that I’ll be talking about soon.

Let me know what you’ve been up to lately, and what books you’ve brought home, I’d love to stop by!

  1. Yayy! More Sarah Rees Brennan! 😀 I have the first two books at home, so I’m planning on skimming through those again soon so I can FINALLY pick up the third book. I neeeed more of her writing!(:

Congratulations for winning that awesome tote bag! I was about to buy tickets for Comic Con, but I was too late as they’re sold out. TOM FELTON IS THERE! (Yes, I think he’s incredibly attractive!) 😉 Plus, I wanted to meet some of the amazing authors who will be there but now I can’t! :( I’m going to have to remember to buy tickets earlier next year…I’ve never gone and it seems like SO much fun!

I hope you enjoy all your novels, Heidi, and have a wonderfully Brennan-filled week! 😀 (I hope you like Demon’s Lexicon! I loooved it when I first read it a few years back, so I’m hoping it’ll be just as good the second time around! *fingers crossed*)

Oh, I’ll be interested to hear why Monstrous Beauty and Carnival of Souls were disappointments. I’ve been looking forward to those books.

That is an excellent library haul. I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of the SRB books (I didn’t love the first Demon’s Lexicon book, but fell hard for the second).

Oh gosh, I would love to hear Harry Potter on audio! I heard it’s quite an experience and must look into the audiobooks at my library. Congrats on winning the tote bag, Heidi! It looks really great. Haha, I feel like we had similar experiences with Monstrous Beauty and Carnival of Souls.

  5. YAY for your HP haul!! I WANT THEM ALL!! Jim Dale <3333

I was so jealous that you won the tote bag! Isn't she so awesome?

I am sorry that you were disappointed by Carnival of Souls and Monstrous Beauty. I was underwhelmed by Carnival but I liked it all the same. I think I'll still read Monstrous Beauty and I have stayed AWAY from your convo on GR because I KNOW I will read it and nod along at all of your points and then will be totally biased as I read it 😀

I hope this is a better reading week for you!!

I love the quote on The Archived tote. It’s so deliciously creepy. Congrats on winning!

  7. I have The Demon’s Lexicon waiting on me as well! I like your cover better than mine though:) And speaking of gorgeous covers, I still need to read Unspoken. Too many great releases in September. Too darn many!

I’m anxious to hear your thoughts on Team Human! I still kinda have a thing for vampires. Even vampire satire:)

  8. Jasmine Rose says:

That tote bag is adorable! So cool that it’s personalized too :] I look forward to seeing what you think about Team Human too :]
