Bargain Bin Book Haul

July 10, 2013 by Heidi

I’ve come to realize that vlogging breeds necessity, and that necessity is more frequent book hauls for the sake of not boring my lovely readers and viewers for 15 minutes.  Instead, I will bore you for no more than 5.  So today I have some Bargain Bin Goodies to share with you all!  Enjoy, and feel free to follow me via YouTube as I’m getting less awkward all the time.

Books Hauled

Valiant by Holly Black
Ironside by Holly Black
Beauty by Robin McKinley
Resenting the Hero by Moira J. Moore <- Seriously, will you look at the horribly embarrassing  cover.  Though there is, admittedly, something about her facial expression that makes me giggle.

Resenting the Hero by Moira J. Moore
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Forde <-Axed for SUCKTASTIC service.
The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen
Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs <- Failed to mention how much I love these covers. Despite the ridiculous clothing that Mercy would never wear.
Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

Peeps you wanna know ’cause I mentioned them:

Thea from The Book Smugglers
Angie from Angieville
Misty from The Book Rat and Austen in August

As always, let me know what you think of my life book buying decisions, and tell me what books you hauled lately!

If you liked that you might like this:

  1. I’m so jealous of that beautiful hardcover of Silver Borne! I really enjoyed that one – has some GREAT Adam moments – so that was a great buy. As was, really, everything else on this.

I’m not a McKinley fan, but I’m curious to see what you think of her. I read The Blue Sword by her with Catie and we were both just so bored and unimpressed. I’ve heard her writing style is slow in all her books, so I have a feeling it won’t work for me, but if you like it I think I’ll be persuaded to give her another try.

I’ve been meaning to read The Peach Keeper because of Angie too, so I’m really thrilled you got a copy. I hope it’s amazing! I’m also curious to see what you make of the rest of Black’s debut trilogy. I thought Curse Workers was better and I’ve recently heard – disappointingly – that her latest isn’t too good, but enjoy Ironside and Valiant!

Also, The Eyre Affair is quite good. I didn’t love it, but I did enjoy it, so I hope you get your refund and find a copy soon. Good luck with Mansfield Park, though. I read all of Austen’s books the summer I turned 13 and that took me the longest to read. I also kind of hate it, with the bland cousins and blander love story. After Persuasion, P&P, S&S, and even Northanger Abbey, it’s just not Austen’s best, but I do hope you enjoy it. You’ll have better luck than my 13-year-old self for sure! 😉

I also love your hair. I’m going to stop writing such a long post now, but happy reading! 😀

  2. Sandy says:

I loooooove Valiant<3 I hope you enjoy it, along with the rest of your book haul :)

  3. I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I’ve never read anything by Sarah Addison Allen despite the fact that she is a NC author. I want to read her stories so much since they seem to have a magical bit about them, but for some reason I haven’t picked one up yet.

  4. Angie says:

That is just an astoundingly good haul. I’m super happy to see someone pick up RESENTING THE HERO. I think it’s such an underrated series (those covers do it a crazy disservice).

Hope you enjoy the Allen and the McKinley. They are close to my heart.

  5. Chachic says:

You haven’t read ANY of Robin McKinley’s books? Girl, you have got to get on that as soon as you can. She’s one of my favorite fantasy authors. I just love her books. Beauty is great – I’m always interested in reading Beauty and the Beast retellings and that one is one of the best. Can’t wait to see what you think of it!

PS: Sarah Addison Allen is a wonderful writer too.

  6. I really liked Beauty! It did take me a little bit to get into it, but then, BAM, I was in love. I do love fairytale retellings, and Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairytale. I hope you like it.

How frustrating about The Eyre Affair. Have you read that one before? I did, but wasn’t a huge fan. I know so many people love the Thursday Next series, though.

  7. Can’t wait to see what you think of The Peach Keeper — such a beautiful book — and Beauty is one of my favorite books of all time.

I have to admit that Mansfield Park is not my favorite Austin, but your mileage may differ.

  8. VeganYANerds says:

Hooray for more frequent vlogs from you! I really need to read some Holly Black ;)And that cover is pretty hilarious!
